PLANNING FOR THE FUTURE

The Mineral Wells Parks and Recreation Department and a professional planning consultant are in the process of preparing a parks and open space plan for approximately the next ten years. Mineral Wells Fossil Park AND THE CRAZY FOSSIL DIG

Due to popular demand, the Mineral Wells Fossil Park is open every day!  Your family can enjoy fossil hunting any day of the week!  The Fossil Park is open from 8AM until 8:45 p.m. every day, including holidays.  If the gate is locked, visitors can park outside the gate and walk in.  Bring water and enjoy time outdoors as you have fun with your entire family!

The Mineral Wells Chamber of Commerce hosts the Crazy Fossil Dig usually on the third Saturday in October from 11AM until 2PM at the Mineral Wells Fossil Park, 2375 Indian Creek Road.  This year's Crazy Fossil Dig has been confirmed for Saturday, October 15th, 2022.  Call (940) 325-2557 for more information about the Crazy Fossil Dig.

 SERVICES PROVIDED

We offer and maintain a wide range of recreation, health, fitness, and athletic programs for all citizens. To enhance the quality of life, we provide park facilities that are visually appealing to citizens and visitors by maintaining park grounds and specific right of way easements and entrances to Mineral Wells.


RENTALS AVAILABLE
The Activity Center on Fort Wolters is available for weddings, birthdays and large events.  With a maximum capacity of 400 people, this is our largest facility available. This building is located at 735 Hood Road, directly across the street from the City Gym.

The Shelter at West City Park is located near the playground at West Park, 1200 W. Hubbard, and is available to reserve for your outdoor event. Please call the City Gym for more information.

The Gazebo at Zappe Park located behind the Poston Building in downtown Mineral Wells is also available for reservation.

For persons wanting to rent the Mineral Wells Aquatics Center on Friday, Saturday or Sunday evening from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.  The contract and pricing information is attached below.
