The first day to file an Application for a Place on Ballot for Mayor and Council Wards 1 and 3 in the May 2, 2020 General Election will be January 15, 2020; the last day to file an Application for Place on Ballot will be February 14, 2020.
City elections are held in the Courtroom at the Palo Pinto County Annex Building, 109 North Oak Avenue, Mineral Wells, TX 76067. If the County holds elections for other cities, voting may take place at those locations as well. Information regarding the County Elections may be found here.
Charter: The mayor and six councilmen shall each be a citizen of the United States of America and a qualified taxpaying voter of the State of Texas; shall have resided for at least one year next preceding the election at which they are candidates within the corporate limits of Mineral Wells; and shall not be in arrears in the payment of any taxes or other liability due the city or be disqualified by reason of any provision of any other section of this Charter. A member of the council ceasing to possess any of the qualifications specified in this section or any other section of this Charter, or convicted of a felony while in office, shall immediately forfeit his office.
