May 2, 2026 General Election

The first day to file an Application for Place on Ballot for Mayor, Councilmember Ward 1, and Councilmember Ward 3 in the May 2, 2026, General Election will be Wednesday, January 14, 2026; the last day to file an Application for Place on Ballot will be Friday, February 13, 2026, at 5:00 pm. Dates are subject to change per the Secretary of State’s official election calendar.

Requirements

Candidates must be a citizen of the United States of America and must have resided within the City of Mineral Wells for at least one year before the election at which they are candidates and must reside within the Ward, if running for a Council Ward position. Candidates shall not be in arrears in the payment of any taxes or other liability due to the city or be disqualified by reason of any provision of any section of the Charter. A member of the Council ceasing to possess any of the qualifications specified in the Charter, or convicted of a felony while in office, shall immediately forfeit their office.
