Water Conservation & Drought Contingency Plan
- The purpose of the Water Conservation and Drought Contingency Plan is to establish short-term and long-term goals for conserving water and to determine the procedures and steps necessary to achieve these goals. The full plan is available for download at the link below.
Water Conservation - Normal

Stage nORMAL
Voluntary water conservation is encouraged.
Stage 1
- Achieve 10% reduction in total use.
- Unattended landscape watering will be permitted two days a week. Other outside use is permitted.
- Addresses west of Highway 281 will be Monday and Friday.
- Addresses east of Highway 281 will be Tuesday and Saturday.
- No unattended landscape watering on any day between the hours of 9 am and 6 pm.
- Hand watering of landscaping, shrubs, gardens, and grass is permitted anytime.
- Soaker Hoses and Drip Irrigation permitted anytime.
- Construction must utilize Reuse Water.
- Implementation of Blending Brazos River Water .
Stage 2
- Achieve 20% reduction in total use.
- Unattended landscape watering will be permitted one day a week. Other outside use is permitted.
- Addresses west of Highway 281 will be Monday.
- Addresses east of Highway 281 will be Tuesday
- No unattended landscape watering on any day between the hours of 9 am and 6 pm.
- Draining and refilling of Swimming Pools will not be allowed.
- Maintaining Swimming Pool levels will be allowed.
- Hand watering of landscaping, shrubs, gardens, and grass is permitted before 9 am and after 6 pm.
- Soaker Hoses and Drip Irrigation permitted anytime.
Stage 3
- Achieve 25% reduction in total use.
- Only outside water use permitted will be Soaker Hose, Drip irrigation and animal use.
- Commercial uses not listed will be controlled to the extent directed by the City Manager.
Stage 4
- Achieve 30% reduction in total use.
- Soaker Hose and Drip Irrigation permitted on Tuesday and Friday.
- Animal use exempt.
- Implementation of RO Facilities.
Emergency Water Conditions
Maintain emergency water supply for public safety.
